Introduction

Clube do Golfe da Quinta do Lago (CGQL) is a private non-profit making Association that organises and administers the golf of its members. The members are principally, but not exclusively, owners of properties on Quinta do Lago.

The Club was founded back in 1984. Original members were encouraged to join the club for USD 2000 (if they were resident within Quinta do Lago), and USD 4000 if they were from outside the resort. The largest original club members were protected by a tri-partite contract with the golf course operator and the resort owner which still forms the basis of the Club’s playing conditions today. This contract guarantees exclusive tee times, and the conditions of transfer and sale of membership titles.

Today’s membership titles trade for €120,000. This gives the holder access to the largest members’ club in Portugal with over 600 active golfers, with unique access to the North and South courses of Quinta do Lago. 2009 will see the start of construction of a new stand alone clubhouse for members which will be the culmination of 25 years of progressive growth of this vibrant institution.
